Welcome to Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for Development in Africa
The discussion list aims at providing a platform for African Science, Technology and Innovation actors to share experiences and knowledge in order to help develop innovative approaches in tackling STI challenges in accelerating the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). The expected outcomes the discussions include: - Identify core list of African S&T policymakers, experts, consultants and other stakeholders which have a keen interest in STI4D; - Publish a booklet summarizing: (i) current role of scientific community in africa - gaps/challenges in S&T development on the continent, major S&T issues on the continent, way forward; (ii) ICT role for advancing S&T in Africa/S&Tfor advancing ICTs - roadmap, opportunities, challenges (iii) issues related to access to scientific knowledge - status of access, limitations to access, areas concerned, and (iv) Building African S&T base: what is required, research? Publishing? Resource mobilization? Science and Technology management?; - Propose a strategic plan of action related global (as AISI), sub-regional and national STI policy.
