Welcome to Platform for Budgeting and Costing of Human Rights
This Dgroup is a discussion and planning space for organisations working on the second phase of the Budgeting project (2009-2010).
In April 2006 the Aprodev Rights & Development Group organised the international 'Budgeting Human Rights' workshop exploring whether the realisation of human rights – economic, social and cultural rights, as well as civil and political rights – could be costed and budgeted, and methodological hurdles could be overcome. Based on the input of the Workshop the publication ‘Budgeting Human Rights; Join the efforts to budget Human Rights’ was published in the beginning of 2007. In September 2007 a discussion was held on the possibilities of a Cartigny follow-up with Helena Hofbauer from IBP. The main objective of the second institutionalised phase of the project is to develop and explore the methodology of costing rights in order to develop an ‘advocacy tool’ for budget and/or human rights organisations.
