Welcome to Open Access and Information for Development
Welcome to this e-discussion sponsored by the Coady International Institute. “Open Access” refers to the growing practice of making research articles available online, free of charge in order to share knowledge more effectively worldwide. This discussion creates a place for people to share their views on what Open Access can mean in terms of information for adult education and development in the Global South - both in giving people better access to the published literature, and for sharing their own knowledge. What is the potential, what is the relevance, and what are the barriers? The formal discussion ran from May 29 - June 9, 2006, and the discussion papers are available under Recent Resources (below). Participants decided to continue the discussion beyond the original period, and new members are welcome.
