THE HIFA2015 GOAL

By 2015, every person worldwide will have access to an informed healthcare provider

THE HIFA2015 DISCUSSION GROUP

HIFA2015 provides a neutral discussion space for all those with an interest in the creation, exchange and use of relevant, practical healthcare information for healthcare providers in developing and transitional countries. It complements the CHILD2015 group (www.hifa2015.org/child2015-forum), which focuses on the information and learning needs of those responsible for the health care of children.

HIFA2015 is the main communication tool for the global campaign, 'Healthcare Information For All by 2015', which launched in Mombasa, Kenya, on 26th October 2006, at the 10th Congress of the Association for Health Information and Libraries in Africa. HIFA2015 is goal-driven and action-oriented: together we are moving beyond dialogue towards collective understanding and effective action.

You can be assured that all messages that you receive will be relevant, readable, and understandable.

HIFA2015 is open to anyone with an interest in improving healthcare in developing countries.

HOW DO I JOIN THE GROUP?

Please email HIFA2015-admin@dgroups.org stating that you would like to join HIFA2015.

We encourage you to supply some details about yourself for your personal HIFA2015 PROFILE. This will be added to the end of any messages that you post, unless you request otherwise, so that members can appreciate 'where you are coming from'.

In your e-mail, please tell us:

  • your name
  • your position
  • the organisation you work for
  • your country of residence
  • your professional interests
  • any other information that you feel is relevant

With your permission, your HIFA2015 PROFILE will also be added to the HIFA2015 Members Directory, a public-access, online resource to facilitate communications.

HOW DO I POST A DISCUSSION GROUP MESSAGE?

It’s easy! Just send your message to HIFA2015@dgroups.org

WHAT TO POST

We welcome all messages, even if controversial, provided that they are relevant to the HIFA2015 purpose: Working towards a future where every person has access to an informed healthcare provider. (The term 'healthcare provider' here includes any provider of healthcare, including mothers/fathers/family carers; primary health workers; and district-level healthcare providers.)

Examples of discussion topics include (but are not restricted to):

  • how to identify the information and learning needs of healthcare providers
  • how to increase the availability and use of healthcare information and knowledge
  • recommended reference and learning materials for healthcare providers

HIFA2015 is also a great way to make contacts; let people know about your activities and publications; and ask for help and advice.

When you reply to messages from other members, please address your message to the whole group if your reply is likely to be of interest to other subscribers.

English is the main language of HIFA2015. Messages in French are also welcome and will be forwarded to the list together with an English translation by the HIFA2015 team. We aim to accommodate other languages in the future.

WHAT NOT TO POST

To preserve the quality and integrity of the forum please do not post the following message to the group:

  • messages that are not relevant to the HIFA2015 remit
  • personal messages to other Discussion Group members
  • messages of a defamatory nature or that may cause offence
  • commercial messages, promoting goods or services for profit
  • messages advertising vacant positions or asking for funding
  • attachments: HIFA2015 carries plain text only
Please note also that the remit of HIFA2015 focuses on issues of availability and use of healthcare information for primary and district care in developing countries. In general, we don't forward messages on other health topics, including publicity for health conferences, unless they relate directly to the theme of the group. Our aim is to avoid email overload due to messages that are outside the remit of HIFA2015. If you would like to discuss options, please contact the moderator. TOO MANY EMAILS? HOW TO SET UP A DAILY DIGEST

The default setting for new members is to receive messages from other members as soon as they are approved by the moderator. If you would prefer to receive only one email per day (all HIFA2015 messages for the previous 24 hours sent to you in a single email), you can set this up yourself as follows:

1. Go to: www.dgroups.org/groups/hifa2015 and log in with your email address and password

(If you cannot remember your password, click on 'forgot password' link. A password will be sent to your registered email address.)

2. At the top of the page, click on 'My account'. This will take you to your personal configuration page.

Under 'Contact details', click on 'I would like to change this' and you will be offered a choice of various options, including how to change to daily, weekly or monthly digests. If you are a member of more than one Dgroup, you can change your settings for each group individually under 'Community info'.

HOW DO I VIEW ARCHIVE POSTINGS?

Just click on the green tab 'discussions'. The archive is freely available to members and non-members.
