This webpage aims at facilitating the exchange of information between the members of the Banana Occupational Health and Safety Initiative (BOHESI) of the World Banana Forum.
This platform is conceived as a common space where the members of the BOHESI group can exchange their ideas, views, proposals and documents in the framework of the coordination activities envisaged for this group.
Initiative summary:
The project forms a unique coalition of banana companies, retailers and civil society organisations. It aims to contribute to a more socially and environmentally sustainable banana production and trade with improved standards of living (in particular in relation to health and natural resource access) for male and female banana workers, farmers and surrounding communities. Direct Health& Safety (H&S) impact in Cameroon and Ecuador for 46.000 Ha of banana farms spread over 1540 farms, employing 53.000 people, producing 1,6 million MT of banana per year.

The kick off meeting of BOHESI was held in Rome the day 20 June 2014 at FAO headquarters.
